What it does

Quiet when you’re working. Instant when you need it.

Everything you copy is saved, searchable and one keystroke from pasting, without ever getting in the way.

A panel that never steals focus

Press ⇧⌘V. It slides in beside your work, you pick a clip with the arrow keys and press return, and it pastes. The app you were typing in keeps the keyboard the whole time.

It knows what you’ll paste next

Likely clips rise to the top, each with a reason you can read. It learns on your Mac only, and never reads what you copied.

Search that understands you

Instant and forgiving. Narrow it with app: type: col: after: and more, or leave a word out with a minus.

Paste a series, in order

Copy five things, then paste them one by one, or all at once. With the stack collecting, ⌘V in any app pastes the next clip.

  • One by one, or all at once
  • Several stacks, reordered by dragging
  • Join clips with a new line, comma or your own separator

Organized without the effort

Categories are rules that sort clips for you, including a real “looks like code” rule. Filter by app, date or type, select several clips and paste them together.

Questions

Good to know.

Does Pasteward send my clipboard anywhere?
No. Your history lives in a local database in your user folder and is never uploaded. There is no account, sync, analytics or crash reporting. The only network use is optional and visible: link previews, the update check when you press it, and checking your license key with the site you bought it from.
Does it save passwords?
No. Anything a password manager marks as concealed is skipped, along with API keys, private keys, tokens and card numbers. You can also tell it to ignore whole apps and specific words.
How do I get Pasteward?
Buy a license from Polar or Lemon Squeezy. Your license key is emailed to you, and your purchase unlocks the download; the file is not available to anyone without a valid purchase. There is no account to create.
Why might macOS ask about my Keychain?
Pasteward keeps one small item in your login Keychain, named “Pasteward trial start”. It holds only the date Pasteward was first opened on this Mac, so deleting the app’s folders and reinstalling doesn’t reset it. It is written once and read only if the app’s own files are missing, so most people never see anything. If macOS ever asks whether Pasteward may use “Pasteward trial start”, it is that date and nothing else: no passwords and no clipboard contents. Allow it, or Deny and Pasteward carries on as usual. You can delete the item any time in Keychain Access.
Can I move my license to another Mac?
Yes. Click Deactivate This Mac in Settings → License, then activate the key on the other Mac. Each plan allows a set number of Macs at a time: 2, 5 or 15.
Why does macOS warn me when I open it?
Releases are not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time you open Pasteward. It is a one-time step per download, and updates are signed and verified before they install. The steps are in the next question.
macOS says Pasteward can’t be opened or verified. What do I do?

This is the not-yet-notarized warning. You confirm once, and it opens normally from then on.

macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later

  1. Double-click Pasteward. When macOS says it can’t verify the app, click Done.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
  3. Next to “Pasteward was blocked to protect your Mac”, click Open Anyway, then confirm with your password or Touch ID.

macOS 14 (Sonoma)

  1. In Applications, right-click Pasteward and choose Open.
  2. Click Open in the dialog.

Any version, from Terminal

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Pasteward.app

This only removes the “downloaded from the internet” flag from the copy you installed. If the steps above don’t work for you, this does.

Can I get a refund?
Yes. If Pasteward isn’t for you, ask within 14 days of buying and we will refund you. Licenses are sold through Polar and Lemon Squeezy, and we handle refunds ourselves: email us with the address you bought with and the site you bought from. The details are on the refunds page.
Does it run on Intel Macs?
Pasteward is built for Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 14 or later.
Why does it need Accessibility permission?
To paste for you, Pasteward sends the ⌘V keystroke to the app you are in, which macOS only allows with that permission. Without it, clips are still copied and you press ⌘V yourself.
